San-Mare Raubenheimer
ARTIST BACKGROUND
I am a fine artist originally from South Africa, now living in Sweden with my husband and three daughters. In 2006 I obtained a Bachelors degree in fine arts from the University of Stellenbosch and in 2008 a postgraduate certificate in Education. After teaching Art for a few years, I decided to pursue my career as a full time artist. We relocated to Sweden in 2012 where I resumed my career as a professional artist. Since 2016 I have participated in several group exhibitions in Sweden and South Africa.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Working primarily in oil paint, I strive to capture intimate moments of human existence; those moments when a person is most vulnerable. Abstract figurative compositions often provide only a partial view of the subject matter and thus creating opportunity for interpretation and storytelling by the viewer. I find inspiration in the symbolism and visual qualities of vintage and found objects, texture and pattern of fabrics and the complexity of the human form and -nature. Being motivated by a culmination of memories, emotions, experiences and perceptions, I wish to create emotive works of art that resonate and lingers with its viewers.
