I paint because I have to: because I have always done so and to realize images that appear in the brain. The pictures tell me which technique to use (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, collage). There is a recurring theme - one hooks into the other - but the paintings take their own winding art-historically referring paths, both in content and form as well as in size. They represent nothing, examine nothing and can be abstract as well as figurative. They are what they are and it becomes what it becomes. That, to me, is the very point of image creation.
